Bike Tour by Day
Day 1: Arrival in Budapest
Your nice design hotel is on Buda right at the Danube, few minutes’ walk from the downtown and the Castle Hill. You can enjoy your welcome dinner with us here, and a beautiful view of the Royal Palace or the Danube from your room.
Day 2: Cycling along Lake Balaton
An easy bike ride through nice holiday villages along the South shore of the “Hungarian See”. We will stop at lovely viewpoints, beaches and marinas to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake with the hills of the northern side in the background. We stay in a nice Hunting Lodge with a lovely swimming pool and game dinner. (cycling appr 44km/28m)
Day 3: Biking in unspoiled countriside
You can buy beautiful folk-art hand-embroidery in Buzsák, bicycle in the undulating Somogy, and cycle through the Zselic nature reserve. We will stay at a lovely Hunting Lodge in the middle of the woods, where you can enjoy the peacefulness of the nature, their delicious dear specialities, and maybe the nicest starlight in Europe. Day 4: Cycling, nature, spa, red wine
Biking through sleeping villages and woods in the Danube-Dráva National Park, an untouched area at the clearest river of Hungary, we swim in a little Thermal Bath. Then cycle to the charming cellars of Villány, the most popular red wine region of Hungary, and taste special wines with a gourmet dinner in a lovely spa & wine hotel of a “Best winemakers of Hungary” award-winning family, where we stay 2 nights. (cycling appr 63 km/39m)
Day 5: Pécs, a capital of Culture
A wonderful town with lot’s of sights to see: the 12th-century Cathedral, the Early Christian Crypts (part of World Heritage), a Turkish mosque, the Zsolnay Porcelain Museum (this factory made many famous buildings’ roofs of Hungary e.g. Church Matthias in Budapest), or some outstanding Hungarian painters, Vasarely or Csontváry. Then enjoy a nice rest in a Café, or the lovely swimming pool with some wine in our hotel.
Day 6: Storks and a castle at the Danube
We visit a unique Stork-Museum, and learn all about their life. Enjoying a canoe tour in a picturesque branch of the Danube, watching herons & egrets, we cycle on quiet paths at the Danube. We stay in a Neo-Baroque hunting lodge built by the Habsburgs in an idyllic park, and taste game specialities served in Zsolnay china, like Francis Joseph, emperor of Austria did as a guest here. (cycling appr 37km/23m)
Day 7: In the Gemenc Forest
A small forest train trip into one of the largest floodplain forests of Europe, the Gemenc Game Reserve, a paradise for lovers of nature. The wonderful willow, ash and elm woods, with water lily covered small arms of the Danube provide an ideal habitat for red deer, black storks, great white egrets, bitterns and lots of rare birds. After this experience we have our farewell dinner in a lovely restaurant in Budapest.
Day 8: End of tour in Budapest
After enjoying the lovely atmosphere of your hotel, we hope you leave with nice memories for a lifetime.
