Bike Tour by Day
Day 1: Arrival in Budapest
Your lovely design hotel is on Buda side at the Danube, few minutes’ walk from the downtown and the Castle Hill. Enjoy here your welcome dinner with us, and a beautiful view of the Royal Palace or the Danube from your room.
Day 2: Miracles of Szigetköz & Győr
Cycling among idyllic arms of the Danube, a picnic at a 400 years old Renaissance castle, and a refreshing bathe in a lovely thermal bath. Then we get to the antique town Győr, where we stay in a 18th century Carmelite cloister at the Danube & Rába. We take a walk to see the Cathedral with a reliquary of a great Hungarian king, enjoy the unique atmosphere of charming Baroque houses, and our dinner in a cosy restaurant. (appr 21-32km/13-20m cycling)
Day 3: Cycling in a mysterious marshland
Riding to an amazing Romanesque church, we cycle through the untouched World Heritage Fertő-Hanság National Park. We look at its rich flora and fauna in a little museum, and then the splendid Esterházy Palace, Versailles of Hungary. We stay 2 nights in a fantastic monastery, a perfect place for relaxation. Here you can enjoy the cultural heritage of 500 years, combined with the comfort of the 21th century, and a lovely dinner in their fresco-decorated dining room. (appr 57km/36m cycling)
Day 4: Sopron & Lake Fertő
A walk in Sopron, a nice antique town with its original Roman city walls, and abundance of sights. We cycle through lovely woods to Lake Fertő, take a boat trip in one of the most interesting wild water areas of Central Europe, and visit a fantastic quarry with giant halls. We enjoy a gourmet dinner and organic wines in an absolutely unique restaurant of Hungary, full of antiquities and special decoration, made by the “Winemaker of winemakers” award-winning owner. (appr 22km/14m cycling)
Day 5: Bike trip to the Greatest Hungarian
We visit the castle of Count István Széchenyi, a prominent statesman of the 19th century. The museum gives us a deep insight into his life & outstanding work promoting Hungary’s transport, industry, agriculture, and some of the world-famous Hungarian inventions. Cycling through nice and peaceful landscapes, we get to an old watermill, our lovely hotel with a swimming pool, park and cosy restaurant. (cycling appr 53km/33m)
Day 6: Kőszeg and the Írott Kő Nature Park
Let’s walk around the prettiest town in Hungary, „the Sub-Alpine jewel-box”. Every house has its individual story and decoration, as well as the castle, protected from the Turks in 1532. Cycling along thatched museum-cellars, wonderful woods and hills, you’ll enjoy an incredible experience & some local wine in a unique „iron-curtain museum” in picturesque vineyards. Then we ride to a small 19th century Castle with lovely rooms and a friendly atmosphere. (cycling appr 38km/24m)
Day 7: Cycling from Castle to Castle
Our bike tour takes us through sleeping hamlets, softly undulating lands, beautiful woods in a really hidden and fascinating area of Hungary, where the time stops and silence finds home. You can taste excellent organic wines and specialities in an antique & fantastic wine cellar, and stay 2 nights in a nice Castle Hotel with a lovely park and swimming pools. (cycling appr 40km/25m)
Day 8: Keszthely and Hévíz
We visit the Festetics Castle, a wonderful Baroque palace of Hungary with an English Garden, rich furniture, and its biggest treasure, the Helikon Library. The Festetics family founded the first agricultural college of Europe, and developed a cultural center in Keszthely. Then in Hévíz you can swim among lovely water-lilies in the second biggest thermal lake of the world, a unique & famous cure resort of Hungary and Europe.
Day 9: Cycling along Lake Balaton
This is the biggest lake in Central Europe, most popular summer resort of Hungary. We bike on the North side, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery with the volcanic hills & nice vineyards at Badacsony, and charming thatched houses at Szigliget. Biking through the Káli Basin with unique „stone seas” and „basalt organs”, we stay at Tihany in a small hotel with a lovely view and surroundings. (cycling appr 53-74km/33-46m)
Day 10: Tihany - Budapest
Tihany is the nicest place of Balaton. We look at the Benedictine Abbey, its foundation document from 1055, and the grave of King 1st Andrew, the founder. After enjoying the wonderful view, walking among lovely thatched houses and souvenir shops, we cycle through Balatonfüred, an old health resort, and drive to Budapest to have our farewell dinner in a nice local restaurant. (cycling appr 15km/9m)
Day 11: Tour end in Budapest
After enjoying the friendly atmosphere of your hotel, we hope you get home safely, with nice memories for a lifetime.
