Bike Tour by Day

Day 1: Arriving in Vienna

Your nice small family hotel is a 19th century Art Nouveau villa with a beautiful garden in the finest residential distrct of Vienna. You will meet us at the reception, and taste some typical Austrian specialities at a Heuriger in the famous Grinzing wine area.

Day 2: Cycling from Vienna to Sopron

A short bus ride, and we cycle along Lake Neusiedl. Biking through picturesque villages and vineyards, we stop in the charming town of storks, Rust. We ride to Sopron, and stay 2 nights in a fantastic monastery, a perfect place for relaxation, where you’ll enjoy the cultural heritage of 500 years, combined with the comfort of the 21th century, and a lovely dinner in a 18th century frescoed dining room. (cycling appr 45km/28m)

Day 3: Sopron & Lake Fertő

A nice walk in the historic town Sopron, to see its Roman city walls & lovely buildings. We cycle through nice woods to Lake Fertő, enjoy a boat trip in one of the most interesting wild water areas of Central Europe, a fantastic paleontological exhibition in a quarry, and a gourmet dinner & organic wines in a unique restaurant of Hungary, full of antique furniture, restored by the Gault&Millau awarded owner, one of the best winemakers of Hungary. (cycling appr 22km/14m)

Day 4: Cycling to Győr

We stop at the splendid Esterházy Palace “Versailles of Hungary” to meet the Count & Joseph Haydn, and cycle through the untouched World-Heritage Fertő-Hanság National Park, where you can see its rich flora and fauna in a little museum. We ride on to an amazing Romanesque church and Győr at the Danube, a wonderful antique “Town of rivers”. You can enjoy a stroll around lovely Baroque houses and the Cathedral, local specialities of Hungary in a charming restaurant, and a nice sleep in our 18th century Carmelite cloister. (cycling appr 57km/35m)

Day 5: Biking at the Danube & Lakes of Tata

Cycling along idyllic Danube arms & a Renaissance castle in the Szigetköz, you can swim in one of the nicest spas of Hungary. Then a beautiful bike ride around picturesque lakes, parks, old watermills, and the medieval Castle of Tata, where we stay in a lovely boutique hotel, an antique building of the Esterházys. You’ll enjoy a picturesque view of the lake & castle of Tata from their gourmet restaurant. (cycling appr 32km/20m)

DAY 6: Cycling to Esztergom & the Danube Bend

Biking through beautiful woods off the beaten tracks we roll in the former capital of Hungary, Esztergom. We visit Hungary’s biggest cathedral and a great statue of our first King St Stephen, where he was crowned in 1000. Then we ride along the Danube to Visegrád, and walk in the 13th century Citadel. You can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Danube Bend, one of the most scenic areas of Hungary from here as well as from the spa of our hotel on the top of the hills, not to mention the gorgeous sunsets! (cycling appr 26km/16m)

Day 7: Biking to Szentendre & Budapest

We cycle down the hills, and bike along the Danube with picturesque views to Szentendre, a lovely town of artists. We take a stroll among the charming Baroque houses, cafés, souvenir shops, and visit a unique Marzipan Museum. From here we ride to Budapest, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Danube or the Royal Palace from our lovely design hotel near the Chain Bridge, and our farewell dinner in a traditional local restaurant on Buda. (cycling appr 28km/17m)

Day 8: Tour end in Budapest

After breakfast you can enjoy some free time in Budapest, and we hope you get home with nice memories for a lifetime.
