Our small family-owned hotel in Vienna is in an idyllic wine town surrounded by vineyards. In the antique Austrian style building you will find comfort and a special atmosphere for a relaxed stay. You will meet us in the hotel, and taste some typical Austrian specialities at a Heuriger restaurant in the famous Neustift am Walde wine region.
We bike along Lake Neusiedl, and cycling through picturesque vineyards and villages in the Fertő-Hanság National Park, we stop in Rust, the pretty town of storks. We ride to Sopron, and stay 2 nights in a perfect place for relaxation, a fantastic monastery where you’ll enjoy the cultural heritage of 500 years, combined with the comfort of the 21st century, and a delicious dinner under wonderful 18th century frescoes. (cycling appr 45km/28m)
A nice stroll in the lovely town Sopron among its Roman city walls & historic buildings, and we bike through nice woods to Lake Fertő, one of the most interesting steppe lakes of Europe. You will enjoy a walk in an old quarry with a fantastic paleontological exhibition, and a gourmet dinner & organic wines in a unique restaurant of Hungary, full of antiquities and special decoration, collected by the “Winemaker of winemakers” awarded owner. We visit the mansion of Count István Széchenyi, a prominent Hungarian statesman of the 19th century. The museum gives you a deep insight into his outstanding work promoting Hungary’s transport, industry, agriculture, and some of his projects such as the renowned Chain Bridge in Budapest. Cycling through nice and peaceful landscapes, we get to an old watermill, our lovely hotel with a small park, swimming pool, and cosy restaurant for 2 nights. (cycling appr 54km/34m)
Let’s walk around the prettiest town in Hungary, „the Sub-Alpine jewel-box”. Every house has its individual story and decoration, as well as the frescoed city hall and the castle, protected from the Turks in 1532. Cycling along wonderful woods and hills, you’ll enjoy an incredible experience & some local wine in a unique „Iron-Curtain museum” in picturesque vineyards. Then we bike along antique wine cellars, and get back to our hotel. (cycling appr 38km/24m)
We continue our bike tour through sleeping hamlets, beautiful woods, softly undulating lands in a hidden & fascinating area of Hungary, where the time stops and silence finds home. You can enjoy excellent “hand crafted” local wines and delicacies in a fantastic wine cellar of an antique Bishop’s Palace, and 2 nights in a beautiful Castle of a famous Hungarian noble family, with a nice park and spa. We visit the Festetics Castle, a wonderful Baroque palace of Hungary with a beautiful English Garden, rich furniture, and its biggest treasure, the Helikon Library. The Festetics founded the first agricultural institute of Europe, and developed a cultural center in Keszthely. Then you can swim among lovely water-lilies in the 2nd biggest thermal lake of the world in Hévíz, a unique & famous cure resort of Hungary and Europe.
We bike on the North side of the largest lake in Central Europe, most popular summer resort of Hungary, with breathtaking scenery of the volcanic hills & nice vineyards at Badacsony and Szigliget. Cycling through the picturesque Káli Basin with unique „stone seas” and „basalt organs”, you can taste the superb dinner and wines of the owner in our lovely small hotel among some of the nicest vineyards of Hungary. Getting in Tihany, the nicest place of Balaton, we visit the Benedictine Abbey with its foundation document, our oldest written memory (from 1055.) which contains some Hungarian words, and the grave of the king who founded the abbey. We take a stroll among the charming thatched houses & souvenir shops, admire the wonderful view of Balaton, and cycle through Balatonfüred, an old health resort. After these experiences you can enjoy some rest or drinks in your lovely boutique hotel, or see the beautiful sights in Budapest. (cycling appr 15km/9m)
