Bike Tour by Day
Day 1: Arriving in Budapest
Your lovely design hotel is on Buda right at the Danube, few minutes’ walking from the downtown and the Castle Hill. You will enjoy your welcome dinner with us here, and a beautiful view of the Royal Palace or the Danube from your room.
Day 2: Nice ride from Budapest to Balaton
In the world-famous Herend Porcelain Manufactory, you’ll see how they make their products by hand, and learn about their history. Cycling down the hills to Tihany, the most beautiful point of Lake Balaton with a famous Benedictine abbey, charming thatched houses & souvenir shops, we take a walk and admire the wonderful view. Then you can taste the superb wines of the owner with your dinner in our lovely Chateau in one of the nicest vineyards of Hungary. (cycling 24km/15m appr)
Day 3: Cycling along Balaton
Biking on the North side of the biggest lake of Central Europe, most popular holiday area of Hungary, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the lake and the volcanic hills in the Káli Basin. We bike among picturesque vineyards & thatched houses in the famous Badacsony wine region, and stay 2 nights in a Castle Hotel with a lovely park and swimming pools. (cycling appr 53km/33m)
Day 4: Trip to Keszthely and Hévíz
We visit the Festetics Castle, a wonderful Baroque palace of Hungary with a beautiful English Garden, rich furniture, and its biggest treasure, the Helikon Library. The Festetics founded the first agricultural college of Europe, and developed a cultural center in Keszthely. Then you can swim among lovely water-lilies in the second biggest thermal lake of the world in Hévíz, a famous & unique cure resort of Hungary and Europe.
Day 5: Bicycling from Castle to Castle
We continue our cycling tour through softly undulating lands, beautiful woods, sleeping hamlets in a hidden & fascinating area of Hungary, where the time stops, and silence finds home. You can enjoy excellent “hand crafted” local wines and delicacies in a fantastic wine cellar of an antique Bishop’s Palace, and 2 nights in an old watermill, our lovely hotel with a small park, swimming pool and cosy restaurant. Day 6: Bike trip in Kőszeg & its Nature Park
Let’s walk around the prettiest town in Hungary, „the Sub-Alpine jewel-box”. Every house has its individual story and decoration, as well as the frescoed city hall and the castle, protected from the Turks in 1532. Cycling along wonderful woods and hills, you’ll enjoy an incredible experience & some local wine in a unique „Iron-Curtain museum” in picturesque vineyards. Then we bike along antique wine cellars, and get back to our hotel. (cycling appr 38km/24m)
Day 7: Cycling to the Greatest Hungarian
We bike through nice and quiet woods to visit the mansion of Count István Széchenyi, a prominent statesman of the 19th century. The museum gives you a deep insight into his outstanding work promoting Hungary’s transport, industry, agriculture, and some of his projects such as the renowned Chain Bridge in Budapest. We stay 2 nights in a fantastic monastery, to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the 15th century, combined with the comfort of the 21st, and a lovely dinner in the frescoed dining room. (cycling appr 54km/34m)
Day 8: Biking at Sopron & Lake Fertő
A nice stroll in the lovely town Sopron among its Roman city walls & historic buildings, and we bike through nice woods to Lake Fertő. You will enjoy a boat trip in one of the most interesting steppe lakes of Europe, an old quarry with a fantastic paleontological exhibition, and a gourmet dinner & organic wines in a unique restaurant of Hungary, full of antiquities and special decoration, collected by the “Winemaker of winemakers” awarded owner. (cycling appr 22km/14m)
Day 9: Cycling from Sopron to Vienna
We bike among charming vineyards and villages along Lake Fertő and stop in the pretty Rust, town of storks. Cycling in the Fertő-Hanság National Park to the northernmost part of the lake, we ride to Vienna, and stay at a nice small 19th century Art Nouveau villa in the finest residential area. We have our farewell dinner in a Heuriger in the famous Grinzing wine-area. (cycling appr 45km/28m)
Day 10: Tour end in Vienna
You can enjoy the beautiful garden of the hotel, or have some free time in Vienna, and we hope you will get home with nice memories for a lifetime.
