Bike Tour by Day
Day 1: Arriving in Budapest
Your lovely design hotel is on Buda right at the Danube, few minutes’ walking from the downtown and the Castle Hill. Enjoy your welcome dinner with us here, and a beautiful view of the Royal Palace or the Danube from your room.
Day 2: Budapest - Tihany
In the world-famous Herend Porcelain Manufactory, you’ll learn how they make their products by hand, and their history. We cycle down the hills to Tihany, the most beautiful point of Lake Balaton with a famous Benedictine abbey, charming thatched houses & souvenir shops. We take a walk here, enjoy the wonderful view, and a delicious dinner in our lovely hotel. (cycling 24km/15m appr)
Day 3: Cycling along Balaton
Biking on the North side of the biggest lake of Central Europe, most popular holiday area of Hungary, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the lake and the volcanic hills in the Káli Basin. We bike among picturesque vineyards & thatched houses in the famous Badacsony wine region, and stay 2 nights in a Castle Hotel with a lovely park and swimming pools. (cycling appr 53-74km/33-46m
Day 4: Keszthely and Hévíz
We visit the wonderful Baroque palace of the Festetics family & Hungary with an English Garden, rich furniture, and its biggest treasure, the Helikon Library. The Festetics founded the first agricultural college of Europe, and developed a cultural center in Keszthely. Then you can swim among lovely water-lilies in the second biggest thermal lake of the world in Hévíz, a famous & unique cure resort of Hungary and Europe.
Day 5: Bike trip from Castle to Castle
Our cycling tour brings us through softly undulating lands, beautiful woods, sleeping hamlets in a really hidden area of Hungary, where the time stops, and silence finds home. We taste some typical local specialities in a lovely old “csárda” inn, and bike to a small 19th century Castle with lovely rooms and nice ambience. (cycling appr 46-66km/29-41m)
Day 6: The Írott Kő Nature Park & Kőszeg
Cycling along nice landscapes & cellars, you’ll enjoy a fantastic experience in a unique „iron-curtain museum” & some local wine in a picturesque vineyard. We ride along wonderful woods and hills, and take a walk in the prettiest town of Hungary, „the Sub-Alpine jewel-box”. Every house has its individual story and decoration, as well as the castle. Then we get to an old watermill, our lovely hotel with a small park, swimming pool and cosy restaurant. (cycling appr 38km/24m)
Day 7: Cycling to the Greatest Hungarian
We bike through nice and quiet woods to visit the castle of Count István Széchenyi, a prominent statesman of the 19th century. The museum gives us a deep insight into his life & outstanding work promoting Hungary’s agriculture, industry, transport, and some of the world-famous Hungarian inventions. We stay 2 nights in a fantastic monastery, to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the 15th century, combined with the comfort of the 21th, and a lovely dinner in the frescoed dining room. Day 8: Sopron & Lake Fertő
A walk in Sopron, a wonderful historic town, surrounded by the original Roman city walls, & lots of sights. We cycle through lovely woods to Lake Fertő, take a boat trip in one of the most interesting wild water areas of Central Europe, and visit a fantastic quarry with enormous halls. We enjoy a gourmet dinner and organic wines in a unique restaurant of Hungary, full of antiquities and special decoration, made by the “Winemaker of winemakers” awarded owner. (cycling appr 22km/14m)
Day 9: Cycling from Sopron to Vienna
We bike among charming vineyards and villages along Lake Fertő and stop in the pretty Rust, town of storks. Cycling in the Fertő-Hanság National Park to the northernmost part of the lake, we ride to Vienna, and stay at a nice small 19th century Art Nouveau villa in the finest residential area. We have our farewell dinner in a Heuriger in the famous Grinzing wine-area. (cycling appr 45km/28m)
Day 10: Tour end in Vienna
You can enjoy the beautiful garden of the hotel, or have some free time in Vienna, and we hope you will get home with nice memories for a lifetime.
